Abstract

Anaphylaxis is a severe and life-threatening allergic reaction that is systemic, rapid in onset and potentially fatal. Recent epidemiological data indicate that the prevalence of anaphylaxis is rising in Korea. Although a few studies on the epidemiology of anaphylaxis in Korea were conducted, the studies were retrospectively designed. To investigate the causes, clinical features, treatment, characteristics of patients, and to predict risks, we determined the diverse aspects of anaphylaxis in Korea and developed a web-based registry to collect data or information. Hereafter, we plan to perform a multicenter prospective study for the establishment of a surveillance system of anaphylaxis in Korea.
